چکیده

First-order reversal curve ~FORC! diagrams have recently been used for the characterization of magnetic systems in both geology and physics. However, the FORC distribution involves a mixed second derivative which reduces the reversible component of the magnetization to zero. As a result, the FORC distribution is not properly normalized. Furthermore, the calculation of the FORC distribution becomes unreliable near the axis where the reversible magnetization should be located ~i.e., the H5Hr axis!. We propose here a method of incorporating the reversible magnetization into the FORC distribution using ‘‘extended’’ FORC’s. With extended FORC’s, the FORC distribution is properly normalized and robust near the H5Hr axis.

Magnetic Properties of Fe49Co33Ni18Nanowire ArraysStudied by First-Order Reversal Curve Diagrams

Fe49Co33Ni18 nanowire arrays (175 nm in diameter and lengths ranging from 5 to 32μm) were fabricated into nanopores of hard-anodized aluminum oxide templates using pulsed ac electrodeposition technique. Hysteresis loop measurements indicated that increasing the length decreases coercivity and squareness values (from 274 Oe and 0.58 to200 Oe and 0.105, respective...

First order reversal curve studies of permanent magnets

First order reversal curve (FORC) diagrams are a useful tool to analyze the magnetization processes in magnetic materials. FORC diagrams are computed from measured first order reversal curves on sintered Nd 2 Fe 14 B magnets. It is shown that the FORC diagram simplifies if the first order reversal curves a desheared using the macroscopic demagnetizing field given by the geometry of the sample. ...

Understandingfinemagnetic particle systems through use of first-order reversal curve diagrams

First-order reversal curve (FORC) diagrams are constructed from a class of partial magnetic hysteresis loops known as first-order reversal curves and are used to understand magnetization processes in fine magnetic particle systems. A wide-ranging literature that is pertinent to interpretation of FORC diagrams has been published in the geophysical and solid-state physics literature over the past...

Reversal-field memory in the hysteresis of spin glasses.

We report a novel singularity in the hysteresis of spin glasses, the reversal-field memory effect, which creates a nonanalyticity in the magnetization curves at a particular point related to the history of the sample. The origin of the effect is due to the existence of a macroscopic number of "symmetric clusters" of spins associated with a local spin-reversal symmetry of the Hamiltonian. We use...

First-order reversal curve diagrams and thermal relaxation effects in magnetic particles

We have recently developed a technique for characterizing the magnetic components within natural particle assemblages. This technique is based on the transformation of magnetization data from first-order reversal curves (FORCs) into contour plots of a 2-D distribution function (FORC diagrams). FORC diagrams are useful for obtaining information about switching fields and interactions in magnetic...
